Top of the Hill is an independent label founded by Tim and Sue Chapple in 2002, specialising in the promotion of Cornish music and musicians.
Tim is a musician who has played bass guitar with some of Cornwall's best loved bands over the last 25 years. They are both aware that breaking into the national music scene is notoriously tough - and that when you're based in Cornwall it can seem like a mission impossible - Top of the Hill is determined to help improve the odds.
I am sure that you will agree that for far too long local talent has had an impossible time trying to get noticed - especially bands and individuals attempting to create something new and original. The West Country, and Cornwall in particular, has a scarcity of venues for new performers, and no direct route to the A&R departments of major labels who tend not to travel too far from the capital.
The label is currently attracting a large roster of Cornish based artists, and as well as the compilation albums will individually promote these artists in future album / single releases.
Here at Top of the Hill we will also endeavour to promote our artists to the major labels, and do everything we can to help get that elusive major deal.
