Dave Jenkin - Rag Rag Kernow Dave has been playing guitar for over forty years, and has performed all over Europe, but these days plays mainly in Cornwall. This CD contains ten original pieces, alongside a mixture of Ragtime, Blues and Jazz favourites recorded with various line-ups of his band The Ragtime Millionaires (Gerry Herbert – Double Bass, Keith Hills – Guitar, Dick Neville – Double Bass, and Jim Sherman – Drums). Dave’s original work reminds us here at Top of the Hill of names such as Jansch and Renborn, and the addition of double bass results in some very interesting Pentangle like instrumental workouts. This band made several tours on the continent playing in Spain, France and Holland and played all over the British Isles, making three successful trips to Ireland. The band played at many festivals around the U.K. including Glastonbury in 2002. During the nineties, The Ragtime Millionaires had a recording deal with the wonderful Fellside label, with who they released two albums. Due to the poor health of double bass player Gerry Herbert, Dave has recently started to do gigs on his own. This release features mainly his own compositions, a few songs and several guitar workouts over a drum accompaniment, which takes his playing away from the ragtime blues format into a more original and unique style.
