Claire was born in Devon, but of a Lancashire family, Lancashire being where she grew up. Claire also has Celtic ancestry of Welsh and Scots. Cornwall has been her home for almost twenty five years.
At eleven Claire knew that she wanted to be a singer, and joined a church choir just to be able to sing. Later she moved on to the stage, firstly acting and then doing musical shows and musicals, where she sang, acted and danced. This was interspersed with acting performances in a variety of plays. Claire qualified in Drama and Theatre Arts, to adjudicate, tutor and direct.
Claire gave up the theatre to concentrate on being an unaccompanied folk singer around 1998. Her songs range from traditional to contemporary, including her own songs. She has sung with folk/rock band E.C.T, the trio Gypsy Crystal, and is lead singer with the folk group “Squandered Youth”. Apart from regularly singing in Cornwall and Devon, Claire is popular in many parts of the country, particularly North Wales. She has performed on local radio in Devon and Southern Ireland.
Darren Cox
I’m Darren and I have been in to music all my life. I have two younger brothers, both are involved in music. Kev who plays the guitar and Baz who is a sound engineer and works for Rif Raf studios.
I was 16 when I discovered rock music. My earliest guitar influences were Jimmy Page, Richie Sambora and Steve Vai and ever since hearing these guys play I have wanted to learn to play the guitar. As I grew older my musical influences varied widely ranging from Classical music, Vivaldi, Eunadi to Popular music and Songwriters such as the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel.
My early music was instrumental compositions covering folk/acoustic rock and I have now discovered a passion for Song writing in the style of Lennon/McCartney etc and am hoping to record these soon as well as branching out in to keyboard and piano compositions. If you would like to contact me my number is 01872 263068 or by e mail at Dazcox73@aol.com.

Pentorr
Pentorr’s sound and line up has changed since first appearing as a one-off performance back in 2000, but the roots of their music remain firmly this side of the Tamar.
Combining many musical influences, Pentorr bring their own slant on Cornish and Celtic music, with a fusion of new sounds and traditional songs on flute, fiddle, bass, guitar and mandolin.
With appearances at Pan Celtic festival Lowender Perran, and more recently at Dewhelans and venues across the county, the band have become increasingly involved with the Cornish music scene.
Pentorr describe their music as “ Gentle acoustic melodies between bass and guitar driven tracks which capture the hypnotic mood of the “Noze Looan” – a recent style of dance and music based on traditional Cornish dance with an emphasis on fun and involvement for all, regardless of age or experience”.
Roger Bennett
Born in Newquay, lived in Looe. Taught English and Drama for 21 years in Herts, before returning to Cornwall with wife and children, to live in a peaceful valley near Chacewater. Here I do Supply Teaching, Drama with music workshops in primary schools, and I am Jollity the Giant, children’s entertainer. I sing all sorts of songs but it is as a folk singer that I’d like to be known, with English and Cornish songs my favourites, though I love to write my own at times, hence “Ballad of Trevithick” on the CD.

Thump Country
Mix together an artist/guitarist with some 25 years of experience from punk to classical and a BBC new talent finalist in Music Video Direction with a closet full of stories to tell and you find yourself in Thump Country a blend of art, filmmaking, steel guitar, storytelling from Cornish roots that they've branded 'Celticana'.
We began with a need to tell stories, combine this with a love of 'Our County' and you have a duo that play, film and record all the music live outdoors.
Hence the name of their music DVD 'OUTSIDE' a collection of music videos filmed around Cornwall in the summer of 2004. No reverb, studio tweaks just the birds, the sea and the odd ambulance!
They are currently working on the second DVD 'INSIDE' where they are recording and filming songs in some interesting buildings and monuments of Cornwall.
Dalla are a new band who have ignited the traditional music of Cornwall with their boundless imagination and irrepressible, infectious approach to the music. They love their native culture, and with their combination of intimate familiarity with this unique tradition, unparalleled 'pedigrees' in the Cornish music revival, and their wealth of ideas (and ability to make them work) - there are no three musicians better equipped to do this music justice.
The line up includes clarinet, bouzouki, fiddle, guitar, accordion, mandolin and vocals, and the repertoire is a mixture of instrumental pieces and songs in both English and Cornish (a Celtic language similar to Breton or Welsh). Some of the material is old, some new, and all of it is Cornish. Outside influences can undoubtedly be heard in Dalla's music however, and this is as much a product of Cornwall's own rich cosmopolitan history as it is of the diverse backgrounds and adventurousness of the individual members.
Ros Keltek is a group of dancers and musicians who have been performing, teaching and promoting traditional Cornish dance and traditional Cornish music for over 20 years. This has taken them beyond the boundaries of Cornwall to festivals throughout the UK, in eastern and Western Europe, and as far afield as the USA. Within Cornwall the group also performs and teaches dances from the other Celtic traditions. Their repertoire includes traditional dances and contemporary dances in a traditional style.
Ros Keltek musicians also perform as a ceilidh band with caller to provide an evening of dancing for everyone. For a full Cornish troyl, musicians and dancers will combine to provide dance, music, song, and maybe even some stories!
“A clear talent - involving songs, a pure voice and dynamic melodies” – Time records
A multi instrumentalist in the singer/songwriter genre - Paul draws inspiration from a wide range of influences from Django Reinhardt to The Smiths. Paul’s interest lies in writing songs that carry an element of sincerity - both in the spirit in which they are performed and their lyrical content.
“Although I write songs that are quite introspective I feel that there is an underlying sense of hope in everything I write”.
“Playing live - performing your own songs, that’s what it’s all about”
Rising stars “Scoot” are a duo on flute and guitar giving Cornish / Celtic roots music a breath of fresh air with their dynamic and exciting approach, combining traditional folk melodies with more contemporary, sophisticated chords.
